Configuring the Abandoned Objects Detection module🔗

To use the module, enable and configure it.

Launch the Eocortex Configurator, go to the /config/svg/ico-tab-cams.png Cameras tab, select a camera in the list located on the left side of the page, and set up the motion detector on the Motion detector tab on the right side of the page.

Then switch to the Analytics tab and enable the module using the /svg/ico-switch-on.png toggle.

Clicking the /config/svg/ico-settings.png button opens the module setup window.

In the opened window the following settings have to be made:

Set object size limits: opens the window where the minimum and maximum sizes of the objects that may be considered abandoned are set.

Detection time: the objects that do not move during the time that exceeds the time preset in this window will be considered abandoned. The time from 30 seconds to 10 minutes can be set.

Then, it is needed to select the mode of module operation:

All objects detects abandoned objects and identifies missing objects without the ability to filter by category.

It is necessary to make the following settings:

  • Set detection zone opens the window where the abandoned objects detection zone is set.

Detection zones are the zones of the frame bounded by a closed polygon. The zone configuration can be changed by dragging the key points at the corners of the polygon. To add a key point, it is required to double-click the left mouse button on the line; to delete — right-click on the key point.

Filter by categories detects abandoned objects and reveals the missing objects of the following categories: Bag, Jerry can, Box.

Note

To use the Filter by categories mode, the neural-networks package must be installed. To run neural networks, it is necessary to have a video card (GPU) with characteristics that match the requirements of this neural network.

The following settings are specified for the Filter by categories mode:

  • Object category: All categories, Bag, Jerry can, Box.

  • Module operation mode:

  • Abandoned object: An object is deemed abandoned if it stays motionless in the frame for a set duration. You can set from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.

  • Missing object: An object is classified as disappeared if it is not detected in the frame for a set duration. You can set from 1 second to 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

For the Filter by categories mode, the area of the zone is defined with borders.

Warning

Using the Filter by categories neural network mode will increase the load on the CPU and GPU.

Warning

For both detection methods, no more than ten detection zones can be set.

Warning

The maximum number of detected objects in the allocated zone is 20.

Warning

The module will start working only when the settings are applied.

Warning

After launching or relaunching, the module will need time for learning. During the learning process the objects will not be detected. This period roughly equals the double detection time set in the settings.

Warning

For reducing module learning errors, it is recommended to ensure that during the launch of the video surveillance server there are no moving objects in the frame, and the static background is not blocked by temporary static and slow-moving objects.
